Adoption Information
Fees:
There is a $59.00 adoption fee for every puppy or dog in the shelter, regardless of size, age or breed. It is $39.00 for every kitten or cat. This fee covers having your new pet spayed or neutered at one of our local veterinarian offices. You will receive a certificate to give to the veterinarian upon completion of the adoption process.
What do I have to do to adopt?
All applicants must complete our screening process to determine adoptability. Each applicant will be interviewed to determine whether or not they will provide an adequate home for the pet. Once you have been approved, an appointment will be made to have your pet spayed or neutered, if the animal is old enough.
All pets required to be spayed or neutered.
Every animal adopted from the Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter must be spayed or neutered to help control the animal population in our community. We will call for a follow up with you or the veterinarian who provided the spay/neuter. All applicants who fail to uphold the adoption contract will be forced to forfeit there pet.
Anyone who has surrendered a pet that they have owned will not be considered for adoption, nor will anyone who has been in violation of our adoption contract, state animal laws, or city/county ordinance.
